A Little History About Peruvian Cuisine

Peruvian cuisine is one of the best in South America and is known not only for its exquisite taste, but also for its variety and ability to incorporate the influence from many different time periods and cultures.

The Peruvian cuisine is an important expression of its own culture just as its ceramics, textiles, music and literature.

Thanks to Peru's three regions and ocean there are an abundance of markets that can offer a variety of fresh ingredients that can satisfy not only the housewife but also the most sophisticated chef.

The culinary history of the Peruvian food dates as far back to the Incas and pre-Incas with its maiz, potatoes and spices that later was influenced by the arrival of the Spanish colonies, and throughout the years it incorporated the demands of the different migrations and "mestizajes".

Cuzco, the capital of the Incan empire, has been the foundation for Peruvian tradition, culture, and most importantly for us, our cuisine.

A Little Bit About Us.

When we immigrated from Peru in 1990, we brought with us our traditions and strong willingness to succeed in anything and everything we do.

We started working for most of the major Hotel and Restaurant chains in the area, proudly spending most of our time with Great American Restaurants LLC, the leading restaurant company in Northern Virginia.

Through hard work, dedication and sacrifice we decided to open the new version of "El Cuzco Restaurant".

A family operated restaurant that offers outstanding International and Fine Peruvian Cuisine delicacies at a reasonable price; "where the best flavors, freshness and highest quality will always reside".

Our Motto is to bring back the best of the Fine Peruvian Cuisine, creating innovative dishes with the incomparable Peruvian Flavors.
